WhizzFizzFest given Fair4All status for excellent disabled accessibility

Friday 21 June 2019:

WhizzFizzFest has been given Fair4All status for excellent disabled accessibility and inclusion. Fair4All status is awarded by Buckinghamshire Disability Service (BuDS) only to events which reach very high standards of accessibility and inclusion for most disabled people.

Announcing the award of Fair4All status, BuDS highlighted that the WhizzFizzFest organisers had tried very hard to make the event open and welcoming to all, and had made changes to help all disabled people enjoy the event like everyone else.

For example, WhizzFizzFest is providing accessible routes to enable disabled people to get around easily, a quiet zone for anyone needing a break, a sensory room for autistic people, staffed disabled viewing areas with seats, hearing loops, large-print handouts, ample Blue Badge parking, and accessible WCs – including a hoist-equipped ‘changing room’ WC.

Councillor Paul Irwin, AVDC Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said:

“We want Aylesbury Vale to be a welcoming and accessible district for all our residents and visitors and, as a council, we constantly strive to meet the expectations and needs of all visitors to events that we organise.

“WhizzFizzFestival, taking place this Saturday (22 June), being awarded Fair4All status is a credit to our staff and partners who have worked extremely hard to make this an inclusive event that will be enjoyed by all visitors and participants.”
