The 2018 WhizzFizzFest will, in grand tradition, kick off at 11am with the Festival Parade from Market Square.
Our Market Square marquee will play host to two of our magical VIP guests; Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Olympic gold medal winner, will be taking part in a question and answer session and will also tell us about her magical new book from her series, Evie’s Magic Bracelet. This will be followed later in the afternoon, by ballerina extraordinaire and Strictly Come Dancing judge, Dame Darcey Bussell. Darcey will host and judge her ‘Magic of the Dance’ competition with dance troupes from local Aylesbury schools.
Our Hale Leys marquee is the venue for our lively, fun and interactive author workshops with four well-known children’s authors David Solomons, Andrew Clover, Andy Riley and Steve Antony who will each be providing entertainment for the whole family as you listen to their stories, ask questions, join in with fun and games and take away a few tips on how to create characters yourself. All authors will be available to sign copies of their latest books at Waterstones bookshop during the day.
More fun with books can be had in the Old County Courthouse where Scannappeal have a reading nook and local authors will also be sharing their love of books.
The day rounds up with an interview with Tony Hadley, fantastic local singer and song-writer, who will reveal aspects about his amazing life in a ‘True’ Q&A session.
Whatever the weather there are lots of other exciting FREE activities on offer, including an exclusive preview of Whistle Down the Wind, arts and crafts, music and a fancy dress catwalk competition. We are also delighted to include the winner of last year’s BBC Radio 2’s 500 Words Competition in the 5-9 age category, Lauren Cook from Quainton, who will be reading her winning story.
And for that very special family treat, why not book a table for a delicious Peter Pan themed afternoon tea in the beautiful Bucks County Museum gardens?
